Importing a Vessel
It's no secret that the American yacht market is much larger than ours. But, it is a bit of a secret that you can sometimes buy a better boat at a lower price even after the complexities and costs of importing it to Canada. Because the market is so big and the choices so numerous there are often "deals" to be found.
However, it is not as simple as buying a local boat!
There are significant costs to decommission the boat, truck it to Canada, and then to put it back together. However, the right boat at the right price can end up costing less than a comparable local boat. We have examples we can show you. The paperwork is also much more complex, especially when dealing with a yacht broker who may be thousands of miles away. If you choose Vela as your buyer's agent you'll be selecting an organization with lots of experience bringing boats to Canada. In fact, we do it on a regular basis! We'll guide you through the process and handle all of the paperwork on your behalf. For you, it won't be much different than buying a local boat except you'll be able to choose from many more boats! We invite you to give us a call to learn more about importing your next boat. We would love to tell you more. In the mean time, broaden your Yachtworld search to include boats from Washington, Oregon, and California and benefit from the added selection.
